At TailBook we stand for openness and honesty in how help is shown - so we start with ourselves. Here is how the records, the money and the data work.
Every action - feeding, treatment, transport, adoption - is recorded into a specific animal's story, with a date and an author. The story assembles itself and is never rewritten after the fact: it is a journal, not a presentation.
Community support through Patreon. The payment platform withholds its fee; the rest goes to keeping things running and growing - servers, photo storage, development. We are also building partnerships with those ready to support our mission. The core functionality is free for animal lovers, volunteers and help groups.
Direct support for animals already works - through supporting a specific animal on Patreon and goods in the shop. The fee has two parts: the payment provider’s fee and a small TailBook fee for maintaining and developing the platform. We always show it in full before you pay - no asterisks, no small print.
Everything is stored on servers in the European Union (Amsterdam), with daily backups. The public profile is off by default. Photographs of animals are public - their visibility is what all of this is for. You can delete your account any time from the settings - we do it carefully and completely.
A card for verified volunteers, shelters and groups: donations arrive on a card tied to the animals in their care, and spending is recorded in the help history. This way every donation becomes help you can see. It is the next level of transparency, and we are already working on it.
Every year in the same standard form: results, numbers, achievements, development, financials. The 2024 and 2025 reports are in preparation.
